1) Le Mars Art Center – Front Door and Window Covering Replacement: – TABLED
Submitted in January 2018 – by Judy Marienau. We are requesting funds to replace our front door and repair the landing as well as replacing the window covering in the upper level and install insulating window coverings for our lower level. By replacing our front door and repairing the landing we will lower our energy costs by drastically reducing the amount of cold air that comes in thru the old door. This will also help with the temperature of the lower level classrooms where toddlers, area youth and adults meet each week for art classes. It would also be aesthetically pleasing to see a door that replicates closely the original doors to the building, as we are on the National Historic Registry. It also would be easier for patrons to open and enter or leave our building, and both sides of the double door could be used. The window coverings in the lower level would again tend to the temperature comfort of the patrons taking classes during the winter months. Replacing the upper level window coverings with wooden blinds would help control the sunlight that is let into the exhibit galleries to protect the artwork or allow us to dim the lighting for workshop demonstrations. This would also enhance the overall beauty of the building inside. LABF tabled this request in January 2018 pending fund availability.
